frequently asked questions
Question:
We live aboard our 48 foot trawler & cruise all summer. We store our inflatable either on the swim platform on its side, or on the cabin top upside down. We really want to install ding-ez on the inflatable. Will putting a ding-ez on our inflatable force us to change how we store it?
Answer:
NO! The bar collapses with the pull of a pin to lay flat on the pontoons, below the top of the bow pontoon and inside the 2 rub rails. When secured there with simple bungees, the inflatable can be safely stored upside down on deck, or on its side against the transom without touching the boat.
Question:
The bar is the perfect shape to tow a board or a tube behind our fast inflatable. Can I do that?
Answer:
Absolutely not! Neither your boat, nor ding-ez is designed to do that. It endangers the boat and the people in it.
Question:
Is ding-ez made to fit any inflatable?
Answer:
Yes, it comes ready to be installed on any "recreational use" inflatable, with an inside beam between the pontoons up to 37". Essentially that is any non-military inflatable under 15 feet long.
Question:
I am a finishing carpenter by trade and very handy, is it ok for someone like me to install it myself?
Answer:
YES, all ding-ez attachment methods are EZ, and are time tested. Wear gloves and be sure to follow all manufacturers directions on 3m's 5200, glue and other materials carefully.
Question:
Certain members of my family are very large (heavy). Is Ding-ez safe for really "big" people?
Answer:
Yes, ding-ez held fast in a pull test at well over 300lbs. We recommend the heavy-duty system.
Question:
Should I wait to get my new inflatable before ordering Ding-ez?
Answer:
No, the main body of the bar and harness will happily install in your new inflatable with a few new parts from us.
Yes! ding-ez is available as:
a flat-floor mounted boarding system,
a V-floor mounted system, or
a soft-floor (universal) pontoon-transom mounted system
All ding-ez boarding systems are fabricated from 100% premium grade
stainless steel boat safety rail.
All hinges are factory welded and electro polished
All soft-floor (universal) boarding systems feature a
harness rail that runs from our own glue-on pads made of super tough polyurethane,
aft to the transom
